Games GDD

I got interesting ideas from, the reading 'Design Considerations' by Greg Aleknevicus. He deals with designing components and talks about how important these are for game enjoyment. Making tiles smaller than the spaces they are on so they can be moved easier without causing disruption of pieces is good advice. To avoid confusion it is a good idea to have indices and icons distinctly different to avoid confusion. Use both shape and color to distinguish pieces as it makes it easier, especially for colorblind users. Cards should be indexed on all corners and use a white border. I like these tips as they don't cost and would be easy to implement. In 'The Game Design Process' there is an easy to understand description of the stages involved in the game design process which I enjoyed reading. In terms of design considerations 'How to Design a Video Game' offers interesting advice on designing visuals that match the game and the importance of the colour palette used. I include some images that demonstrate the importance of matching the visuals to the game and target audience.
